Summary

Greater privilege means greater responsibility. That’s what we hear in this study in Amos, as he continues to build the case against Israel and reminds them of their privilege when Abraham was called from the apostasy of the Tower of Babel.

0:17.5	Welcome to Through the Bible. I'm your host Steve Schwetz, and I'm holding open the doors of the Bible bus as we depart for another great study of the Old Testament Book of Amos.
0:26.3	Now, in this study, our teacher, Dr. J. Vernon McGee, is going to guide us through the first six verses of chapter three.
0:32.6	But before that, here are a few introductory remarks about a conversation that he had with a university professor in Hawaii many years ago.
0:41.0	He said, you know, there are three enemies of Christianity today, and they are not atheistic.
0:51.4	They are anti-Christian.
0:54.8	And he meant by that more than being atheistic, they are anti-Christian. And he meant by that more than being atheistic, they're actually against Christianity.
1:01.5	And he enumerated them like this, the news media, politicians, and education.
1:09.6	Now, whether he's accurate or not, I'm not prepared to say. From my viewpoint
1:16.4	and the little that I know, I would say that he's accurate, that we are seeing today a tremendous
1:24.7	transformation take place in our country, because now there's come to age that
1:33.1	group that were taught atheistic evolution and were not taught morals at all.
1:41.7	Morality has gone out of the way it's down the drain. And as a result, why we today
1:50.8	have a contemporary culture that is becoming definitely anti-Christian. There is a feeling on the
1:59.1	part of these in these three groups to look down
2:03.1	at Christians. I have experienced that, that they are something more than we are. They are more
2:12.1	intellectual. They are more broad-minded. The very interesting thing is they talk about me being a narrow-minded fundamentalist.
2:22.9	The most narrow-minded group that I find today are these three.
2:28.5	They're very difficult today to see my position at all.
2:33.0	In fact, they just push you aside and move on. You're not considered
2:38.6	today. The viewpoint of the Bible has not been presented through the news media. It has not been
2:46.7	presented in education today, and it's not being presented but politicians today.
