0:17.0 | They are doubling down on this space in a market that right now is kind of sideways and nobody knows what's going to happen. |
0:25.0 | These are some of the smartest people in the game. These people have built some of the biggest technology companies. |
0:31.0 | And it's a great announcement today to know that they're all in on this space. |
0:36.0 | And it doesn't surprise me because they see the massive potential here. And when you talk about things going from Web 2.0 to 3.0, |
0:44.0 | let me explain really quickly if that's new to you. Web 2.0 is kind of the world we're in right now. |
0:50.0 | It's dominated by a few large technology companies. I won't name it in names because I might be on them right now as you're watching me. |
0:58.0 | But it could be Facebook, slash meta, Google, technology companies like Amazon and Apple. |
1:05.0 | And they kind of are the gatekeepers of most of our information. And they also take a huge chunk of that information and the profits from it. |
1:14.0 | So sometimes between a third and a half of all revenues from advertising, from app sales, from deliveries, from ads run, |
1:24.0 | they take the chunk of that revenue and it's owned by some very large companies. |
1:30.0 | Web 3.0 is kind of going into the future where it's going to be more peer to peer. |
1:35.0 | And we're going to actually own our information in the future. |
1:39.0 | And it was one of my guests, Yatsuo of Anna Muka Brands, that said, Brian, we've been involved in digital colonialism. |
1:45.0 | So they've basically gotten us to give us their information and then they've sold it back to us and we buy it from them. |
1:52.0 | And that's what happens every time you log on to Facebook or Google, they own all of your browsing data, which is basically your identity. |
2:00.0 | And then they monetize that by serving up ads to you and you don't get paid for them and you don't own that information. |
2:07.0 | Web 3.0 is a brand new world where you own your medical history, you own your browsing data, you own your identity. |
2:15.0 | And you also control transactions peer to peer and that could be money in the forms of crypto, but that could mean a variety of other things. |
2:25.0 | And again, the NFTs you own in the future might be your own identity. |
2:29.0 | It also means the metaverse and that's going to be fascinating because we're seeing all of these Web 2.0 companies going into Web 3.0. |
