Angela is an activist and organizer, and she is running to be the next Vice President of the United

States on the Green Party ticket with Howie Hawkins.

Angela, welcome to Amped Up.

Thank you so much for having me, Ryan.

It's really an honor to be here.

I've been looking forward to this myself. Since this is your first time on the

show, why don't you start off by just giving my listeners a little bit about your background and why you're

running to be the next Vice president of the United States.

Well, I, every time, I want to, you know, let folks know every time I've ever run for office, it's because I was drafted.

So it's never been one of those situations where I'm like, yeah, let me step up and do this.

No.

I've been a community organizer. I was part of the Occupy Movement, part of the

Wisconsin uprising. Part of Occupy the Hood, which was concerned with the issues of black folks, indigenous folks, and

Latinos folks because we felt like so much was not being addressed by the mainstream Occupy Movement.

I was the legislative director for the amalgamated transit union, Local 998,

for a couple of years.

I have been a commercial driver, trucks and buses, for the last next

January it will be 20 years that I've been going at. And yeah, I mean, I ran from Milwaukee County Sheriff

as an independent socialist in 2014

at the behest of my late friend Rick Kisell and our campaign

pulled 20% of the vote in that election which was a shock not least of all to myself.
