Last time you purchased something at a checkout counter in person,

not online we're talking about here. How'd you do it? Well, if you held your phone up to a contactless

payment system, then you're one of only 17% of shoppers in America who did so. I'm raising my

hand, only you can't see it. When it comes to contactless payments, 17% is a pretty meager

adoption rate, actually.

Much of the rest of the world is rapidly forsaking cash and regular credit cards.

Almost half of Chinese shoppers use contactless payments, followed by Norway at 42%.
