Hey server listeners, this is chapter five in my deep dive on apologies and forgiveness in

0:04.8

this chapter. I'm going to do a mini deep dive on forgiveness. Forgiveness is something that's

0:10.2

really quite complicated. I'm going to go into the definition and the components. So let's get

0:15.6

into it. But first, let me analyze one of the videos that you sent to me. This is an apology

0:20.9

between Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift, apparently. So I'm going to analyze this apology and I'll give

0:27.0

a letter grade at the end. Let's watch. I've moved on. I'm sure Taylor's moved on and it feels

0:32.8

nice and we're all friends. It's all good. Okay, so I've started to refer to something as the

0:37.8

apology system, which refers to the entire system that involves an apology. You can't just look

0:43.7

at an apology and isolation and say, was it effective? Was it ineffective? You have to look at the

0:48.4

entire system. And so we're hearing a little bit from Joe Jonas. I think Taylor Swift apologized

0:53.6

to him. I'm guessing or did something to him. Maybe they had a relationship. I think they did

0:57.3

anyway. So for him, I think he is now saying we're friends now. I've moved on. We're good now.

1:04.6

That indicates that however the two of them managed to get there, whether an apology was elaborate

1:11.6

and wonderful and would fit all my criteria or not. Apparently, at least in this interview,

1:17.2

he's saying that they have moved on and it sounds like he has forgiven her or at least in spirit.

1:24.0

I've moved on. I'm sure Taylor's moved on and it feels nice and we're all friends. It's all good.

1:29.7

That's Joe Jonas on ITV's Lorraine speaking out about his relationship with Taylor Swift

1:35.9

after her recent appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show. What is the most rebellious thing you did

1:42.0

as a teenager? Probably when I like put Joe Jonas on blast on your show. That was too much.

1:50.8

Okay, so we're hearing that she regrets Taylor Swift regrets insulting Joe Jonas somehow on her

1:58.8

show when Taylor Swift was younger. So, okay, so that's apparently the transgression. We're always

2:03.9

looking for what exactly is the transgression. What is the harm? We laugh about it now. That's good.
