Remember how Apple's statement on this week's finds by the European Union ended with the

line.

Despite countless meetings, the commission continues to move the goal posts every step of the way.

Less than a day later, they have added a line that really shouldn't surprise anybody.

Earlier this week, we heard that the European Commission had announced fines against Apple and MEDA.

Meta was fined 200 million euros for, I don't know, probably still having Facebook,

while Apple was fined 500 million euros, roughly $570 million US, for its App Store anti-steering

practices. According to a piece from 9 to 5 Mac, initially it appeared that there might be a softening

of position on both sides, while $570 million is a large sum of money in most contexts,

it's much smaller than the law permits.

On Apple's side, the company said the ruling was unfair but hadn't announced an intention

to appeal,

that has now changed.
