So what exactly are tariffs and are they good for America?

Because quite frankly, I feel as if we're not even able to have a rational conversation about tariffs anymore, not even in conservative circles.

What used to be kind of a foregone conclusion, especially among free market economists, is now being challenged as almost being an unpatriotic

position.

So here's what we're going to discuss today.

We're going to sit down and attempt to do something that I think has been horribly missing

from this entire conversation of the last several months, and that is what are tariffs?

What do they do?

What are they used for?

Are they good for your economic development? Are they bad for your economic development? Are they just merely a negotiation tool?

Or should they be the cornerstone of your trade policy? So that's what we're going to do today.

We're going to talk about what tariffs, no kidding, actually are from a technical basis. We're also going to talk about the arguments in favor of tariffs, the arguments

against tariffs. And then we're going to talk about Trump's America First policy, which he has made

tariffs a significant portion of and discuss what the actual purpose of a tariff is in Trump's

larger trade and economic strategy. And then we're

going to ask ourselves, is this the way that we should be going? Is this the sort of policy

that we should be implementing in order to ensure the economic success of the United States,

which ultimately means the economic success of Americans.
