others like your kids, if you have them, would want to emulate? My recent conversation with

Epic Mountain climber Jen Drummond, who's also mom to seven kids, and my recent time with all

of my children over the holidays has me again

focused on the life that I've emulated to others specifically. It's acute with my kids. I have a lot

in my life I'm proud of. And I've spent a lot of years just grinding things out. I mean, I chose to have seven kids and adopt

two more. Most people respond to that with respect and as if I've done something valiant. Maybe I have,

maybe I haven't. But what my kids have seen as a result is a parent that's really busy. I went through a long period of life where I didn't play.

I didn't really do leisure or vacations. I didn't hang out. I was productive.

And one, it was how I fed myself image, admittedly. Two, it was also fairly necessary with up to

nine kids at home. And I just never asked myself, for a long time, what I was modeling for my kids or to others

with my life.

So I ask myself that now, and like Jen, I've altered my life accordingly.
