Once upon a time, in a place called Greece, there lived a young man called Arian.

He was thought to be the greatest lute player in the world.

With a voice so soft, yet so powerful, and fingers so nimble and quick,

tales of Arian's music travelled far and wide.

It was said he had the power to charm the birds and the beasts and even rocks and trees.

Arion was from a city called Corinth.

One day he decided it was time to see the world and to sing to the world.

He wanted glory to make a name for himself.

The king, Perianda, warned Arian that the sea could be a treacherous place.

For the only way to cross was to book passage on a ship.

Arion persuaded the king to let him sing to those far and wide,

and to let them know from where he came,

that from Corinth was born the greatest lute player.

So Perianda allowed it,

and Arion set sail on a merchant's ship.

The voyage was smooth, and soon he was in Italy.

There were many fine musicians there,

but none compared to Arion. When he sang, it was as if it were a dream.

The people could not take their eyes of him. Word of Arian's talent traveled quickly through the land.

He went to Sicily and sang there too.
