The longest shot I ever made on a coyote was with an AR-15. I'm going to tell that story here in a bit and talk about why that was the rifle I used. I mean part of it was because it's the rifle I had on hand right and there's that old time

saying that the best rifle for kaiot is the one that you've got with you

when you see him. But first, why talk about

AR-type rifles as an option for backcountry hunting in the first place, right? A lot of people

feel like they are, oh, anything from inappropriate, which I disagree with,

to simply incapable, which I kind of agree with and disagree with at the same time.

We're going to talk about that too.

We're going to talk about the disadvantages and the advantages.

We're going to talk about the current social and economic conditions that are causing a lot of mass

purchasing numbers right now. We'll talk about the personal protection crossover element and we'll talk about

appropriate cartridges and how to choose and set up an AR for best performance for backcountry hunting slash self-defense because

that's where these rifles really excel right and I'm going to try and tell a few stories, meanwhile, to, you know, exemplify certain

Do AR15 type and AR10 type, the bigger receivers, right, have a place for backcountry hunting.

I'm going to argue that they do, but it comes at a price.

They have a lot of disadvantages. They do have one massive advantage. In the semi-automatic

world, they're pretty much the most accurate of all the different rifle and action types.
