Glory to Jesus Christ. I'm Mother Natalia, a Byzantine Catholic nun from Christ at the Bardger

0:04.9

Monastery and this is Pines with Aquinas. I recently been re-reading what's one of my favorite novels? Maybe my favorite novel? It's called Green

0:15.6

Dolphin Street by an author named Elizabeth Gouge. And what I really love most about the novel I think and what I really love about

0:25.8

Guja's writing in general is the characters are just not one-dimensional and they're not easily definable. They're very complex and I think that's reflective of the reality of humanity because we you know we can get

0:48.2

into these these modes where we watch a movie or we read a book and we're like that's the bad person,

0:53.7

that's the good person, or I know exactly what this person is going to do because it's just

0:59.5

so their behavior is so predictable.

1:07.8

But in this novel, Green Dolphins Street, it's just Guoosh really develops the characters

1:12.2

in a way such that you can see how their hearts have

1:19.5

been formed the wounds that they're acting out of what what their defense mechanisms are, so on and so forth.

1:25.1

And so you can see this person has the very good exterior, but it's coming from kind of a

1:31.6

self-protective place or this person has not a great exterior and it's

1:36.5

also coming from a self-protective place or whatever it may be and it's caused

1:41.1

me, rebating it has caused me to really look more closely, examine my own actions, and try to be more aware of how I'm acting out of my wounds.

1:54.0

And I know this kind of sounds like a bit of,

1:57.0

I don't know,

2:00.0

it's kind of like a buzzword or something like that in the modern world of just

2:05.7

talking about our wounds and how we're acting out of them and where we need healing

2:09.7

and so on and so forth and it can be this place of just like well I don't trust modern

2:15.7

psychology and so I wanted to share like the Lord has just been bringing all of

2:21.2

this together for me in my own prayer in all the

2:24.3

different places that I'm like my spiritual reading and this novel and things like
