The land and our rifles are quiet.

It's the end of the 2023 hunting season and we've hopefully spent some really wonderful hours and days and weeks in the backcountry in the

hunting field whatever that may be and now winter is closing in and we're putting

away our rifles and hopefully getting out a shotgun for waterfowl season or some kind of a late a planned hunt.

Meanwhile, we have questions, new questions generated by our experiences of the fall.

And it's kind of a cool time for me.

Christmas is right around the corner, and the house is buzzing with subdued excitement when the kids are here and my wife and I are plotting when they're not.

So it's a great time.

Another thing I look forward to this time of year is the onslaught of
