I was actually going to go in a different direction today, but I've been thinking about something, and perhaps you have been too. So I had this nagging sense that maybe something else was more pressing. So that's the direction that I'm going in this week.

I remember the first plane ride I ever took.

It was way before TSA and pre-check and all the security folks smoked cigarettes on planes back then. You could walk your family members and friends

to the gate to say goodbye. You could wait on your family and friends when they landed and

the doors of the plane to open. Of course, all of that has changed now, but back before 9-11,

flying was different.

I was traveling with a man, a Sunday school teacher, as a matter of fact.

That was the first flight I took.

I actually was not with my parents.
