both talking about different aspects of life in California. Laura Jadid will talk about the hellscape that is San Francisco and the reactionary's plans to fix it. You probably couldn't tell over two sets

of air quotes in that sentence. And Yasha Levine will talk about water in California, one of several larger contacts with the Los Angeles fires.

Much of this may not be news to Bay Area listeners, but the rest of us have been hearing endless stories about how San Francisco, a once beautiful, if excessively liberal city, has been turned into an outcropping of hell thanks to those very liberals.

San Francisco has some problems, yes, but many of them have been caused by the very tech

billionaires who not propose to fix it, drawing on some seriously reactionary politics.

Here with more is the journalist Laura Judid, who visited San Francisco recently and survived

a report in her findings in the New Republic. Laura Jadid grew up surrounded by the right. Her parents

were Ayn Rand followers, and she was, as she says, a card-carrying libertarian her younger days.

She even did a stint with the 82nd airborne in Afghanistan. She gave up the conservative politics, but it left

her with a lifelong fascination with that side of the political spectrum. A bit of background for the

non-bay area audience that might not come immediately clear in the interview. London Breed served as

the mayor of San Francisco from 2017 until January 8th of this year. She was defeated for re-election last November by Daniel

Lurie, an heir to the Levi Strauss fortune. Here's Laura Jaddeed with more. By some accounts,

we're risking our lives every time we step out into the streets of Brooklyn, but you took an

even greater risk by visiting San Francisco. I hear it's just hellish. You survived, though.
