Today the Education Journalist Jennifer Berkshire will report in the rights latest points of attack in their war on public schools.

And then Peter Karatev will analyze the political economy of his native Ukraine before, during and after the war.

Time was when the rights of pressure to public schools was standardized testing and breaking teachers unions.

They've now moved on to wanting to eliminate them entirely, in favor of publicly subsidized Christian academies.

Their strategy includes deviously ramping up fears of critical race theory and drag queen story hours.

Here with more is the Education Journalist Jennifer Berkshire, making her fourth appearance in Behind the News.

She's the co-author, along with Jack Schneider, of a wolf at the schoolhouse door, the dismantling of public education in the future of school, published by the new press, which she discussed on this show in April 2021.

Berkshire and Schneider are also co-hosts to the education podcast have you heard.

Here she is to discuss a wacko new book by Peter Hexath and David Goodwin, the battle for the American Mind, and the latest obsession of Christopher Rufo, the man who elevated critical race theory into a right-wing talking point.

Hexath, by the way, is another one of those right-wing populists, with two Ivy League degrees, Princeton and Harvard, in his case.

Same pair for Ted Cruz, and Josh Holley, Stanford, Aquazi Ivy, and Yale, the real thing.

He's very alarmed about some material. What's Peter up in arms about?

It's just an incredible understatement to say he's alarmed about some material.

What's absolutely crazy about this book, and he has a co-author, and you really get the feeling that this, the co-author, a guy named David Goodwin,

that he really did all the work, but they are upset about the entire past hundred years.
