All right, welcome to Pod and welcome to January, and this has been something we've been

wondering how it would play out since the playoff schedule was announced.

The semi-final games, or the quarterfinal games were on December 31st, two were on the first, and one was on the second, but three of them are designed to be on the first, obviously.

We had the terrorist attack in New Orleans, pushed it back.

The championship game is the 20th, Monday the 20th.

So we have two semifinal games to be played between ostensibly the first and the 20th. So we have two semifinal games to be played between ostensibly the first and the

20th, which is not ideal. But there's this little thing called the NFL playoffs. It tends to

soak up all of the oxygen in the conversation, all of the viewers, and all of the time slots that you

could possibly have. And this is an inherent problem with college football. The one thing they did

do really well when it was just a poll-driven sport was they ended on January 1. I'll give them that.

That was about the only thing they had going.

And I think ideally everybody agrees the best thing to do would be get back as close as possible to January 1 where you finish up.
