Summary

Brittany was diagnosed with brain tumors at the age of 20 and was told she’d never get pregnant and it was too dangerous to give birth. After seven years of failed IVF and surrogacy attempts, Brittany decided to try to get pregnant naturally, and to the surprise of all her doctors, she did. During her first birth and through the pregnancy of her second, Brittany started to reclaim her authority and trust in her own body. Brittany decided to have a sovereign birth with her third child and since then has begun untangling herself and her family from the medical system.

1:27.4	where to start and where to, yeah,
1:29.9	where do you want to get into this whole big wild tale. Yeah, well, I've had a really long journey,
1:38.1	fertility journey. I guess I'll start with the fact that I have three brain tumors.
1:46.3	I was diagnosed when I was 20.
1:52.3	But my journey with the, been very ingrained in the medical system.
1:58.3	My journey really started when I was in high school and I was having these debilitating headaches. And my doctor kept saying that there's nothing wrong with me and tried to convince
2:04.4	my parents that I was crying out for attention because I was an only child.
2:09.7	And that was the first time that I was kind of told not to listen to my intuition.
2:18.8	And so, and my parents, you know, they tried really hard to support me, but they also come from that generation that doctors are authority figures and they know best, you know?
