There's been this misconception spread in the media that Bitcoin's energy expenditure will

only ever increase.

So that's where you get those kind of headlines and articles from where people say like,

oh, I think it was the World Economic Forum that said in 2017 that by 2020, Bitcoin

would use all the energy in the world of 20, like what was being used in 2017. And the reality was like it was like

0.1%. Yeah. So it just doesn't really make any sense, but they do the math of, well, you know,

if we expect that by that year, there's this many people using Bitcoin. And this is the energy

expenditure per transaction, then we can just scale it up. But that's fundamentally not how it works.

We could spend 10 times as much energy as we are today and still process the same number of transactions.

Or we could spend only 10% of the energy that we are today and process 10 times as many transactions through, for example, the Lightning Network.

So there is no direct link there between the two but it is like it's

difficult to understand it takes people a lot of time to get to that point
