But speaking of practical uses for magic,

I've got a little story for you,

let's rewind back to the early 1900s.

There was a magician named Mercedes Thalma

known as the Queen of Coins. She could manipulate up to 30 coins in what the newspapers

called her Petit Hands, and she was one of these performers that critics were so impressed with because A, she was a woman, and B, she would wear these off the shoulder gowns to perform, sleeveless gowns.

And folks would be like, well, how does she do it?

Where do all the coins come from, if not from up a sleeve?

And I love this one story about her that I have no idea whether it is fully true, but allegedly, one day the Queen of Coins was walking down the street in New York. Some people tried to mug her,

apparently not knowing they were about to mug the Queen of Coins, because what did she do?

She just started pulling coins out of thin air to the point that muggers were like,

what is this woman doing?
