podcasts in the last couple of weeks and I've got to say that Matt's interview that I

watched absolutely heartbreaking just you know going out and

What happened to him which we're gonna get into but before we get into that, rather than just jump straight into it,

and a huge thank you to Matt coming on, I'd like to just go back, Matt, and get a bit about what was your life like before the incident?

Well, mate, thank you for having me anyway.

Yeah, look, my life, my business, my life my business I own my own electrical company and I'm fully

into all fitness I've currently the past four years been involved in Triathlon and Iron Man and

last year I competed all year doing half Iron Man and then finished the year with a full Iron Man. And life's just very simple for me,

mate, train, work, look after my kids. I've got two young kids three and one and a partner over in Australia. We've been together 11 years.

Yeah, life's very simple for me. I had it very nice and calm. Do you know what I yeah look it's been turned upside down if I'm totally honest

Absolutely turned upside down. I'm gonna get to. What was your family life like math?

Very full on as you can imagine two kids. If you're a parent you understand where I'm coming from

long afternoons picking kids up going out spending time with them yeah look

mate very little happy family got everything I ever wanted I want many more kids

but it's one of them things just a hump in the road at the moment.

And how did a young man from Leeds end up in Australia?

Well, but clear enough about that. up in Australia? Well luckily enough, I spent several years playing rugby growing up and luckily enough we were in the Leidranos Academy for three years and yeah got an opportunity sort of to go overseas with one of my good friends

Danny Bravo at the time and we were we'd been playing together for a couple years and yeah

Barry McDermott were just like look there's an opportunity

overseas you can take it it's just for 12 months you never know what could happen you might never come

back and yeah mate I went out there and yeah after six months I
