Summary

The L.A. Times continues its downward spiral toward irrelevance by refusing to endorse a Presidential candidate in what their own editorial board calls "the most consequential election in a generation." The once-proud paper that stood as a beacon for Los Angeles since the 1880s is now simply waving the white flag and inching closer & closer to their demise.

Hey, this is a special bonus episode of In A Minute with Evan Love

0:04.0

and I appreciate you being here with me and taking the time to listen, but

0:07.4

reason I'm making this bonus episode, I was motivated by something that happened yesterday that brought up some old feelings and thoughts

0:16.0

on what was once in LA icon a beacon of information and thought in Los Angeles and I think it's pretty important.

0:25.0

I did an episode.

0:27.0

It was actually the 50th episode of this podcast called My Take on the L.A. Times

0:32.0

situation.

0:33.0

manipulated throughout the years but it is very important, especially true journalism.

0:57.3

And the LA Times was once that guiding light in Los Angeles, and it's gone a different direction,

1:02.4

and look, it's gone a different direction and look it's in a downward

1:04.2

spiral but it continues to get worse even in the well barely one year that has

1:11.0

passed since I ran that episode my take on the LA Times situation

1:15.4

which by the way resulted in emails, dms, messages, text from people who work at the

1:20.8

LA Times telling me how spot on that was because again

1:25.2

anybody who's a fan of journalism or even who disparages journalism can see

1:29.5

that the LA Times is in again a death spiral but what happened yesterday was just inexcusable

1:38.3

explainable and cowardly the owner of the LA Times blocked the paper from endorsing a

1:47.2

candidate for president. Now listen I'm not here to advocate for a candidate.
