Hello, this is Sam and this is a special bonus podcast because why not? This is today, the day that I'm going to be recording my hundredth episode and I decided that I'll do a

few special bonus episodes in addition to the regular ones because yeah I've been doing this for a while now and

yeah I'm this is the podcast equivalent of Sam Fold letting his hair down.

So this episode, I'm going to read one of my favorite poems,

and that's about it really, but because it's a longer poem,

I'm doing this in a separate episode.

And if you guys don't want to listen to a poem that's cool this is a bonus episode

But I would advise you to listen

Personally, I think that poetry can help us find something, perhaps only momentarily transcendent.

So something higher than ourselves, something that goes beyond our everyday normal lives.

Life can be so difficult and confusing sometimes.

It can be hard to put our feelings into words. It can be even harder

to find another person we think can understand us, to share our fears, our hopes, dreams. Poetry can touch and move us, it can conjure emotions,

ideas, and can let us know that we're not alone, that others have trod this path before us.

You know, I love to read poetry out loud and I strongly advise you all to try doing that sometime.

It can allow us to find an otherness inside ourselves, something almost extraordinary and a sublime.

And as Wordsworth said in the prelude, with hope it is, hope that can never die, effort and

expectation and desire, and something ever more. and I'm going to read The Love Song of Jailford Poufock by T.S. Elliot.

Let us go then, you and I, when the evening is spread out against the sky, like a patient, etherized upon a table.

Let us go, through certain half deserted streets, the muttering retreats of restless nights in one night cheap hotels,

and sawdust restaurants with oyster shells, streets that follow like a tedious argument of insidious intent to lead you to an overwhelming

question.
