Look, I'm a historian and I know that since at least 1830 in North America, race and racism has been the primary mover of people.

The prime of, and I don't just mean people of color.

I mean just almost every single major mass movement from abolition to deconstruction to anti you know, anti-imperialism to the civil

rights movement. I mean, everything has centered on some kind of racial injustice. And what we,

you've just laid it out perfectly. What we've witnessed the two most important issues that have

brought people to the streets have been forms of racial injustice

and state violence, you know, state violence, whether it's the 2020, spring 2020 uprising,

whether, let's go back, 2014, the kind of convergence of the killing of Michael Brown and the 51 day war on Gaza, those two things together.

That's right.

They're the foundation for the movement of 2020, which laid the foundation for the movements that we witnessed this past year.

And for them to keep saying it's a losing issue, you know, it's just something not true.

It's just not historically founded.

And so this is where we are once again.

And this is why I have some confidence.

I have confidence in our people that when there's real deep injustice, right, that may not be us, they may not look like us.

People will come out.

And that's why the attack on DEI is so important because it's not an attack on DEI.

It's an attack on any critique of racism, racial injustice, gender injustice, gender sexual inequalities, and

and power. And that's what comes down to. Just power. There's a critique on power. What you just heard
