Welcome to the Sports Motivation podcast. This is Books and Bars, special edition, where I break

down clips from my favorite rap music, bars, right? And I break down excerpts for my favorite

books. I read a ton. I haven't been reading as much lately as I would like to. I've been

reading more like in small little chunks, but I still

read, man, I still got to. I think it's very, very important for you as an athlete as a top

performer to feed your mind. You know what I'm saying? Feed your mind. If you're an athlete,

you're probably going to be an entrepreneur at some point anyway or you're probably one right now,

all right? I don't anticipate that as an

athlete you're going to go and get a day job afterward. So I think it's important to read a lot of

books on business and obviously there's a lot of people listening who are leaders in business,

who do have their own businesses, et cetera. So there's a great book and this one is by Jim Collins.

He's the author of Good to Great, which is a classic.

And this book is called Great by Choice.

It's a powerful book, all right.

So here's the subtitle, Uncertainty, Chaos, and Luck, Why Some Thrive, Despite

Them All.

So basically the idea of this book is they're trying to figure out

why is it that some companies do really, really well under pressure, right? Under pressure,

why do some do really well and some don't? Some fold under pressure and some do really well.

And he did all these studies and studied these companies. And he came to

conclusions about the data. All right? So I want to share with you guys the most powerful

part, one of the most powerful parts I've taken from this book so far. I'm still reading it.
