Hello everyone. Welcome to Slashfilm Daily. Today is Tuesday, April 15th, 2025. On today's episode of the show, we're going to be doing some box office catch up and we'll also talk about the latest film and TV news. My name is Ben Pearson. I'm an editor at slashfilm.com and I'm joined on today's episode by Slashfilm staff writer and box office analyst Ryan Scott. Hey, everyone. How's it going? All right, Ryan. It has been a while since we've done actually both a traditional news episode and since you

0:24.6

and I have talked about box office stuff.

0:26.0

We just had a lot going on on the podcast recently.

0:28.6

So last time I believe we talked about box office was right before a Minecraft movie

0:34.0

came out.

0:35.1

And there were some discussions about the tracking numbers and I want to say

0:39.8

the tracking was like lowered down to something like $65 million for opening weekend and it

0:45.6

opened to like 160 and I know we've mentioned it on the podcast since that it's been a very big movie

0:51.4

but yeah I mean we can focus on that in a sec, but I don't know, do you want to just

0:55.9

like run through the top 10 and then we'll talk a little bit more about a Minecraft movie?

0:59.5

Yeah, let's do that.

1:00.7

So let's go.

1:02.2

We're going to go over the top 10 for this past weekend.

1:04.6

And we're going over the weekend actuals here, not the estimate since we're reporting

1:07.8

this on Tuesday. So real quick, repeating at number one was a Minecraft movie,

1:12.5

was $78.5 million in its second weekend.

1:15.8

At number two was a surprise animated faith-based movie called The King of Kings,

1:20.7

which made $19.3 million.

1:23.8

We talk a little bit more about that one in the second.

1:25.8

Big surprise there.

1:26.9

Number three was Rami Malick's new action thriller, The Amateur, which made $14.8 million,

1:32.5

a very respectable number for that kind of movie these days.
