Let's go back before Starface. What was your job before?

Yeah, so I'll go all the way back.

I started writing about my life online pre-instagram.

There was this era online of the personal essay and I wrote for this site called xojane.com which was founded by Jane Pratt.

And the premise was that we would all just share what we were experiencing in life like a cast of characters and you had to speak to your personal experience and you had to do it every day.

Those were kind of the rules.

And when you're writing as Julia, you need somebody else.

Yeah, I was writing as myself and at the time I was probably 22 years old and the biggest things in my life were that I had acne and I was obsessed with it.

And I would write about all the things I tried.

I would take pictures of myself very low res pictures.

And again, this is pre-instagram.

So people are in the comment section of this website talking about what they use, like asking questions.

And we're all just kind of getting to know one another.

And you have these categories of top commenters.

The commenters almost became writers in their own right.

It was a very specific internet era for sure.
