Every red-blooded hunter that read the stories of Robert Rourke and Ernest Hemingway and Peter Hathaway

Capstick and, well, our President Theodore Roosevelt longs to hunt the dark continent and of all the animals

there that call to us as hunters the most these days because of a combination of practical affordability

and accessibility is probably the one known as Black Death, the Cape Buffalo.

It's proper dangerous game.

It's one of the original Big Five dangerous game animals,

and yet it's nowhere near as controversial shall we say as an

elephant or a rhino or a lion or even in many cases a leopard which are the other four of the original dangerous

big five and so Cape Buffalo being plentiful and being non-controversial,

have a, well, they enjoy kind of a special status these days

as being the epitome of the exotic international dangerous game

hunt that the average guy can aspire to go hunt.

And that, my friends, is what this episode today is kind of about, not just necessarily Cape Buffalo the house the wise the wares and

What not but it's a string of stories about the Cape Buffalo hunts I've been on. Now three of those were my own. The

rest were friends that I was privileged enough to accompany on their own hunts and

we had some really cool adventures including one

full-on bona fide genuine charge from a bull that wanted to kill all of us and my friend Doug Turnbull

the legendary Colt and Winchester Restorations expert and his pH J Jock Strauss, got that bull stopped at exactly four paces.

When he slid to a stop, the dust that his snowplow maneuver kicked up washed over us standing there.

And I'm going to tell that story here too.

This, my friends, is just a little group of stories, true stories, from the dark continent about hunting black death.
