Summary

The new Counter-Reformation mix tape dropped…ya heard? It’s a music-heavy episode, not all of which is appropriate for work. Maybe not everybody’s work, but, most people’s work. Cardinal Del Monte has quite a few guests at the house and people have thoughts. Also, Caravaggio creates some paintings inspired by music, a guy named Francis, and Mario Minitti’s sultry gaze. And, I lash out at more Popes. Take a listen and learn about some terrible surgeries, a lazy investigation by the sbirri, and some memory problems. We also learn that it’s hard to say goodbye, especially when you know you have to. Because, violence.

0:27.0	This is going to be an interesting episode. This is when we start to get a sense of who Caravaggio was as a person.
0:33.5	We've had snippets so far, but a lot of this has been crafting the world around him and using
0:37.9	indirect evidence to construct the outline of who he was, and so far he's kind of a douche. And in this episode that personality
0:45.5	is going to crystallize a bit more and there's a few reasons for that. First, court records.
0:50.7	spoiler alert he's going to get into a bunch of trouble moving forward.
0:55.3	And the other reason is he's just surrounded by more historically significant people whose

1:03.7	remembered group of people in Rome, the Cardinals, the artists, the elite boosgy people,
1:09.2	it's going to start getting tough for them to not form some sort of

1:14.0	People had thoughts and they were unconcerned with them being recorded in history.
1:18.0	So let's dive back into our story.
1:21.0	Caravaggio has had an interesting journey so far and consequently so of we.
1:25.0	We've traips through Catholic history, European history, the plague, a possible murder
1:30.4	and a bunch of baby Jesus limbs with lengths of a varying degree of weirdness.
1:35.3	And within all that we've learned about Caravaggio who started out without any discernible
1:39.7	artistic abilities or being seen as special in any way. And then all of a sudden he heads down this bold and inventive path
1:46.8	that's resulted in some new and daring art and some of which borders on town
1:50.9	of reformation porn and some of which is just about fraud.
