It's late at night. You're walking alone through a deserted town. Above you the street

lamps cast a ghostly glow. It starts to rain hard. You flick up your hood and

pick up the pace as you turn down a dark alley to continue your journey. Here,

away from the street lamps, you struggle to see. But you remember the torch in

your pocket. You turn it on and begin to navigate through the gloom. And that

is when you hear it. A distinct rustling right behind you. You're

quick in your step, but the sound seems to follow, keeping up with your every

pace. Your heart beats faster and faster. Your senses alert. With nowhere left

to run, you decide to confront the horror stalking you. Turning quickly, you

raise your torch. And that is when you see it. Two bright penetrating spots of

light staring through the dark directly into your eyes and breathe. It's

only a little cat. I'm sure you're familiar. Well, maybe not as dramatically as

I've described, with the way a cat's eyes reflect light back to you in the dark.

And I'm pretty confident you're familiar with this because let's face it,

people around the world absolutely love cats. In many countries, they're just as

popular in our hearts and homes as their furry four-legged competitors and

humankind's best friend, dogs. Now, many people define themselves as either a dog

person or a cat person. The qualities of a dog person are said to be loyal,

faithful and uncomplicated. Whereas a cat person is said to see themselves as

independent, subtle, cool under pressure. And maybe just a little more on the
