Hello and welcome to Dark History's Christmas Campfire 2022.

For those that are new to the podcast, this is a bit of an annual tradition.

I think this is now the sixth year we've been doing it.

And it's kind of like the idea at the start initially was to sort of reignite the old tradition of kind of sitting around and telling ghost stories at Christmas.

So this is the Dark History's little version of that I guess.

This year we had like seriously large amount of people writing in which is amazing.

And I've spent the last sort of week basically like pouring through the emails.

Basically as they came in I just flagged them and thought I'll look at them close to Christmas.

And yeah I've been reading through the emails the last week or so and it's just been so much fun.

So without further ado let's just kick off straight into them.

We're going to start off this year with a couple of stories that you read through about or related to sleep paralysis.

Because I had a few stories of this and I'll explain why we're kicking off of that afterwards.

But anyway this first story is from Mr. Book who is a long time listener, pretty active in the community over on Discord and that.

And his story say sort of related to sleep paralysis so let's crack on with that.

For the campfire stories I wanted to share my experiences with sleep paralysis.

I have four different experiences over many years with every single one still frightening me to this day.

The first time I experienced sleep paralysis was when I was six years old.

In the dead of night I was having a nightmare. The nightmare I can remember clear as day.

I was in complete darkness. All of a sudden I could see a pair of piercing eyes.

They were far off until suddenly they rushed at me and woke me up.

When I opened my eyes I couldn't move. All I could do was look around and barely breathe.

After what felt like hours I was able to move and run to my parents for comfort.
