Hi, everybody. Welcome to Hot Mike. I'm your co-host, Bill Whittle. Hot Mike can't be here today,

unfortunately. He's neurodivergent, as you probably have already guessed. He called in saying

that he's suffering from time blindness and generational trauma. So it looks like I'll be doing it again.

I guess we'll see him next week if he decides to grow up a little bit.

Anyway, a different show for you today because I've got so many notes, I'm going to be doing a lot

of readings. So if it seems a little flat, that's just about the way we're going to have to deal

with this today. One of the most misquoted lines of all time is history repeats itself.

The actual line is, those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. That was George Santiana in his

life of reason 1905. History doesn't repeat itself, but the lessons of history do. And the war in

Ukraine is the largest war in Europe since World War II.

About how many people have been killed in the war in Ukraine as during the Battle of Stalingrad,

and that's about as bad as it got.

So this is a meat grinder of almost unbelievable proportions. And since this is the worst battle, worst war in Europe since World War II, I think it's probably

useful to go to World War II to look for some examples, some lessons from history to see what we

can learn about this. Now everybody is taking a close look at the meeting between Donald Trump,

J.D. Vance, and Vladimir Zelensky. And they're

examining every minute detail of that catastrophic meeting. And as a historian, it's my

inclination, I want to take a step back and try to remember the past so that we don't have to

repeat it. So the real question, of course, during the

thing that everybody's talking about just simply won't stop talking about was it who's

at fault during that catastrophe? Was it Trump? Was it Vance? Was it Zelensky? Was it both of them?

Or neither of them? Well, since it's the biggest war in Europe since World War II, let's go back to World
