Yo, welcome into the house of L podcast. I'm Lawrence Holmes. I appreciate you hanging

out and rocking with podcasts and we have got something fun and interesting and so historic

on the podcast today. I am looking forward to it. This episode, I enjoy when I get to

do episodes that are kind of like pilots. This episode is going to serve as the beginning

of Maddie Lee's portion of House of L. So as I told you, like things were going to

expand and I was going to add people to the podcast and Maddie Lee who writes for NBC

Sports Chicago and I have been talking about working on a project together and this is

it. She wants to talk about baseball and I can't think of a more relevant time considering

what's going on with the Mariners right now. When we need someone like Maddie Lee to tell

stories that go beyond some of the ways that baseball has has purported itself. Her talking

about stories and trailblazers and people who you need to know and making it a more diverse

place. I'm glad that she came to me with the concept of trying to show where baseball

has lost its way when it comes to talking about issues of race and culture. Where baseball

doesn't have to be just a white man's game and considering that she is a woman of color that

is in the game. Her perspective is a necessary one and I'm glad that she is lending that perspective

to House of L. It's really really good. I'm looking forward to seeing the type of

podcaster interviewer that she becomes and she hit a home run for their first episode.

It's it's rare that people will wow me with the first thing that they throw at me because the

first thing is the goal is to keep improving. It isn't to you know go out there. Now she's

raised expectations though. I don't know if she knows that but she's raised expectations

on all of this now because you can't come out the box with this guest on these subjects and

not raise the bar before I get to who the guest is. I wanted to let you know that the reason
