As we ascend in ministry, I think oftentimes we think that will go away.

Those voices will diminish, right?

But the anxiety actually grows, which means that to some degree the secrecy has to grow,

you know, the hiddenness.

And I think that that was the case for me, to some, you know, as I, my, my wounds sort of

lingered after being fired. There were obviously other wounds, too, that I was likely running from.

But there was that sense that it's a quick, it's a quick anesthetic when you get to go on stage

with Tim Keller and speak about the spiritual

life of a church planter as some sort of expert on soul care.

You know, it feels really good.

And you can dupe yourself into thinking, you know, I'm okay.
