is on final approach to Cali Columbia after departing two hours late from Miami, Florida.

The crew is frustrated by the delay and by the fact they will need to fly in the dark,

in a valley, pass the airport, then turn around in order to land on runway 1 in a

northernly direction. While making their descent to Cali, Air Traffic Control offers

them the choice to land at runway 1-9, which would be more direct and allow them to land to the
