The judge hearing the case against Donald Trump's deportation flights is losing patience with the administration's excuses and stall tactics, and today raised the specter of holding members of the administration in contempt of court. Lee Gelernt, deputy director of the ACLU's Immigrants' Rights Project, discusses with Rachel Maddow.

0:03.9	So Michigan State University is in beautiful East Lansing, Michigan.
0:09.1	It's a really big school.
0:10.7	More than 40,000 undergrads enrolled at any one time.
0:14.7	Another 7,000 or so people enrolled as graduate students.
0:19.0	And Michigan State is a really big-name school. It gets a lot of
0:22.6	national attention, in particular for its sports teams. The most high-profile college sports
0:28.2	are obviously football and basketball. Michigan State almost always has really great teams in
0:34.5	both football and basketball. I've also got a pretty good hockey program.
0:38.5	Because Michigan State is a Division I school and because they are very, very good at the
0:43.7	sports that get on TV. And most especially because they're part of the Big Ten, which is a big,
0:50.3	highly televised, lots of attention, athletic conference in this country.
1:02.0	Whether or not you got any connection to Michigan, people all over this country know Michigan State and the Michigan State Spartans.
1:15.3	Well, last night, the Faculty Senate at Michigan State voted that their school should join the other schools in the Big Ten in a totally non-sports-related agreement. The faculty at Michigan State voted last night that their school should join
1:20.4	with all the other schools in the Big Ten and what they're calling a mutual defense compact,
1:26.3	a mutual academic defense compact.
1:29.7	And what that means is kind of what it says.
1:32.4	When Trump inevitably comes after one of the schools in the Big Ten, be it Michigan State or Rutgers or Ohio State or UCLA or USC or University of Washington or any of the other schools in that conference,
1:45.7	the idea is that all the other schools would agree to help that school defend itself and
1:52.2	fight back, which would mean lawyers and experts and advocacy and lobbying and public relations.
1:57.9	They would all do it together.
