0:13.1	Today we got to read a Psalm.
0:15.1	I bet you love that.
0:16.7	Since we're working through the Bible chronologically, we'll mostly have the Psalm sprinkled throughout
0:20.7	our reading where they've been written as a response to what's happening at the time.
0:24.8	You may have noticed that Moses was the author of this particular Psalm.
0:28.2	This is the only Psalm he wrote.
0:30.8	But before we get to that, let's talk about the situation he wrote it about.
0:34.8	Today in Numbers, the people are responding to the reports of the Ten Spies who argued that
0:38.7	they couldn't take the land of Canaan.
0:41.0	This was a mess, you guys, because these ten leaders were fearful.
0:44.5	The whole camp is thrown into chaos.
0:46.8	The people tried to usurp God's authority by choosing a leader other than the one God
0:50.4	had appointed and by going where God wasn't leading, back to Egypt.
0:55.2	This idea of going back to Egypt isn't just a theme for them.
0:58.1	It becomes a biblical metaphor for doubting God, turning away from Him and living into ourselves.
1:04.2	As for the Israelites, their doubt has turned to fear, which prompted rebellion.
1:08.9	If you don't bring your doubt to God, like we've seen Moses do repeatedly, your doubt
1:14.1	will drive you from God.
1:16.6	So Moses and Aaron fall on their faces, Joshua and Caleb tear their clothes in grief, and
1:21.7	then they try to rally the people to trust God, but their speech is far from effective.
1:27.1	The people wanted to stone them.
