0:13.2	The Israelites have just set foot in the Promised Land as a nation for the first time.
0:17.9	This is the partial fulfillment of something God promised them approximately 750 years
0:22.3	earlier when he first called Abraham and Genesis 12.
0:26.2	The first fulfillment will come when they take the land, but at this point their enemies
0:30.0	the Canaanites still live there.
0:32.2	The first city they plan to take is Jericho, a town near the eastern border of the Promised
0:36.3	Land.
0:37.3	But before they do that God wants them to be fully prepared.
0:41.0	In God's economy, preparing for battle has very little to do with sharpening your weapons.
0:46.0	It has everything to do with preparing your heart.
0:48.9	He wants to make sure their hearts are surrendered to him and aligned with his own heart before
0:53.4	they go face the enemy.
0:55.9	But first thing they have to do is circumcise all the Israelites' males, then allow them
0:59.5	time to recover.
1:01.2	After every male is circumcised, they celebrate Passover.
1:04.7	The timing of this is beautiful.
1:06.5	It's kind of a second Exodus, exactly 40 years after the first one.
1:11.1	Their hearts need to celebrate Passover because it will reinforce their faith.
1:15.6	It serves as a reminder to them that God has protected and provided for them through
1:19.2	the years.
1:20.8	Then in 512 we get a little sentence that speaks volumes.
