Hello and welcome to best laid plans. This is your host, Sarah Hart Unger, and this is the podcast where we talk all things planning and planning adjacent.

0:16.9

Today is definitely one of those planner adjacent topics for you, but it's one that's been on my mind for a while.

0:22.9

And even though I don't consider myself a subject matter expert, I do have some thoughts and opinions on the subject, so I thought I would share them with you today.

0:30.9

The topic that I am getting at is organizing and dealing with stuff, aka clutter. So you might think, well, what does that have to do

0:41.0

with planning? And I guess it's not directly related to planning. However, I always feel like

0:48.1

handling things within your space is sort of, I don't know, analogous to planning and being intentional with your time and your

0:56.6

goals. When you're organizing and you're decluttering, you're being intentional in a similar way

who is fantastic at organizing my space. If you come into my home, you would not necessarily

1:23.8

look around and think, wow, this person has mastered her space and decluttering.

1:29.1

That is in part because I am not an incredibly visual person and also because I have three

1:35.0

kids and a fairly hectic slash active lifestyle. However, I feel like there's things I've learned

1:41.1

over the years and that this is just a really interesting topic to discuss and go through. I also feel like both planning and having your space

1:51.5

organized impacts your overall efficiency. An efficiency is something I'm incredibly

1:56.0

passionate about, not because I want to rush through things, but because I want to spend my

2:00.3

precious time doing things that matter to me, things that are fun, things that are

2:04.0

enjoyable, connecting with loved ones, and not time dealing with last-minute emergencies that

2:09.7

could have been prevented, or searching through my space to find lost items that are buried

2:14.5

under piles. So again, a lot of kind of parallels between these two

2:20.2

realms. A cluttered space is chaos and a cluttered schedule is chaos. And both of those can be
