This is stories from riders who have experienced catastrophes, breakdowns, getting lost, being injured, or other issues that have led them into trouble.

No one wants to run into trouble, but really if there was no threat to dodge, no line in the

sand to skirt, no precipitous edge to approach, there would be no adventure.

Because adventure kind of lives in that gray zone between safety and danger, and it's about

riding in that gray zone, your gray zone, whatever that is, either purposely or by mistake.

And our Deep Trouble series is all about helping you ride that gray zone without crossing

into danger. We do it by hearing stories of those who have had trouble, struggled,

and returned with lessons for us all to learn.

On this episode of Deep Trouble, Griffin Jory is out for a multi-day ride with friends in the mountains.

He heads off for a planned solo day ride that should see him meet up with his buddies at

camp for dinner.

But later that day, the sun is dipping down below the horizon, the stars are beginning to appear, and Griffin is physically worn out so much so that he can hardly think straight. He sits stuck and alone in the wilderness in a place where a heavy

adventure bike was never meant to travel. What happened to Griffin and what he
