This week we are reading the memoir from Delta Burke, titled Delta Style,

and the tagline is, Eve wasn't a size six and neither am I.

This is a book about starving yourself to become a beauty queen when you're

younger then daring to gain weight on national television in the 80s,

and then being so bullied for that weight gain, that you say, leave me the fuck alone in

224 pages.

She never did anything else in her life.

What a contribution that was.

But all of a sudden, because she got fat, it was like she no longer had the right to live in this country

And that's how I feel right now

Boy drugs alcohol, cancer, whatever your problems, people are sympathetic unless you're fat and then you're supposed to be ashamed.

Everything's set up to tell you that.

Magazine, covers, clothes.

I mean, if you're not thin, you're not neat, and that's it.

This is a podcast that recaps and celebrates the memoirs of badass celebrity women who have been

torn down by tabloids and dissected by social media all while facing career obstacles broken

relationships and incredible triumphs and come out of it all even stronger. And before

we get into Delta let me tell you a little about the Instagram part of this book club because I've gotten a lot of

dams about it. Basically if you want to follow me on my Instagram at Chelsea Devantes, I am reading the book and

recapping it in my Instagram story about two weeks before we record and it's

kind of like a little digital book club.
