If you are a longtime listener, you know that the first serial killer that was covered

on this podcast was Sean Vitzingillis.

He had the other Baton Rouge killer.

And during that episode we talked about how Sean Vincent Gillis was when he was

active and one of the reasons he was able to evade capture as long as he was, or even speculation was because there was like a whole other serial killer active during that same time.

Actually, during like the late 90s, early or early 90s, early 2000s, like that time span and like the Baton Rouge area,

there were three serial killers going.

It's just not... I was just not how crazy the South is, but Louisiana especially is, they hold a special spot in my heart for being just like absolutely nuts. It is absolutely nuts. I promised you guys at some point that I would

cover the Baton Rouge killer and today is that day. Your weekly trigger warnings are murder, rape, brief

about suicide and so let's get to it.

In keeping up with the three named serial killers

in Louisiana Trent, Derek Todd Lee

was born on November 5th, 1968 in St. Francisville, Louisiana.

His mom, Florence Lee, was only 17 when she had him.

His dad, Samuel Ruth, wasn't long, wasn't around long after Florence gave birth to Lee's sister. Samuel had been married before he met Florence and then he left Florence for his first wife,

who he already had five kids with.

He returned her.

Yeah, he returned, had two more kids.

They wouldn't last forever, though,
