0:27.6	Welcome, everyone, to Season 11 of Turning to the Mystics, where we're turning to the philosophy of Gabriel Marcel.
0:31.6	And I'm here with Jim to discuss his first session.

0:36.6	Yes, good, good to be together again. I loved the first session.
0:41.0	Thank you so much. And you were really trying to set the tone and offer up the vision of Marcel.
0:49.6	You always help us understand these mystics tend to have a vision aspect and a path aspect.
0:55.0	And in this first session, you're really helping us get insight into the vision of Marcel.
1:02.2	That's correct. That's right.
1:04.0	And where you started was you said what makes Marcel accessible is that he's inviting us to become more aware of the quality of our awareness.
1:14.6	And I wanted to just dig a little deeper into this idea of awareness, because when I think about awareness, I'm thinking about, like right now, I can be aware of what I'm seeing, what I'm hearing, the temperature
1:30.3	in the room, I could be aware of, you know, I'm a little hungry. What is this awareness
1:36.3	that myself is talking about?
1:38.3	Yes. He's making a distinction. The way he phrases, is between primary and secondary reflection.
1:46.6	So primary reflection is just, we're just aware of what's consciously, factually,
1:52.0	obviously, obvious, and true. So, for example, right now it's five minutes till 10,
1:56.8	or right now it's a certain date, or right now I need to turn the heat up in the room,
2:01.9	or right now my cell phone just, there's that awareness.
