Waking up early isn't always easy, but Jody, whose intrude, always brought a sunny smile to her viewers on her morning show daybreak.

At only 27 years old, Jody was a news anchor at K-I-M-T News Channel 3 in Mason City, Iowa.

Jody's vibrant personality and optimism translated to viewers, making her a beloved

figure at the local station. Today, Jody's face is no longer seen on a television screen, but instead,

on a Mason City billboard. Beside her smiling picture are the words, don't sit in silence. The time to talk is now.

On Tuesday, June 27, 1995,

Jody was expected to anchor daybreak as always.

But she never made it on air.

Music And this is the Fox True Crime podcast. Jody was running late that fateful morning. When she didn't arrive at the station at the usual 3.30 a.m., co-workers called her apartment

to check in on her. Jody answered the phone and explained that she accidentally overslept

and would be in shortly. But Jody would never step foot in the office that day.

Just after 7 that morning, the staff called the police requesting a welfare check.

When law enforcement arrived at her apartment complex, they discovered an ominous scene.

Jody's red Mazda Miata sat in the parking lot.

Her personal belongings, including red high heels and her hairdriar, were scattered beside

the vehicle. Jody's bent car key was also found on the ground, as well as drag marks, which indicated

a struggle. Later that morning, Jody's colleagues announced her disappearance on air.

No trace of Jody was ever found.

And in May 2001, she was declared legally dead.

No suspect has been named in Jody's case.
