Summary

Adrenergic receptors have a weird way of showing up in many different contexts on the USMLE exams. In this podcast, I spend time breaking down alpha-1 adrenergic receptors and the many different contexts/dimensions the NBMEs choose to take with them on the USMLE exams. Pretty HY stuff here. All right. Welcome. My name is Devine. This is episode 271 of the Devine Intervention

podcasts. In today's podcast, we're going to be going over the hydronergic

0:11.3

receptors for the US-MLE exams. The the adrenergic receptors for the USMILE exams.

0:14.1

The adrenergic receptors, honestly these things are pretty high-yled.

0:20.6

This podcast, who's going to benefit from it?

0:22.3

It's going to be people that are taking step one,

0:24.0

people that are taking step two and step three.

0:27.0

In one way or the other, adrinergic receptors are kind of important, they're kind of useful for a lot of stuff.

0:34.5

So it's just one of those things where you pretty much be shooting yourself in the foot

0:40.6

if you don't understand them. Many people think that step two and step three have like no basic sciences in them.

0:47.0

That could not be further from the truth.

0:51.0

So you need to make sure you can understand understand these things if not you're putting yourself in a very tough spot.

0:56.9

Okay so let's just go ahead and get right into them. So the thing is in terms of our

1:00.5

genetic receptors, the ones that we're really going to care about today are the

1:04.8

alphas and the betas. That's it. The alphas and the betas. Now the good thing about those is that

1:12.2

they all have, there's five total that we really care about there's

1:16.3

Alpha one there's Alpha two and then there's beta one beta two beta three.

1:21.0

Beta three has a very limited role, but we'll discuss what that limited role is in terms of the USME exams.

1:28.8

So let's maybe go straight into the Alpha 1 receptor.

1:32.0

So the Alpha one receptor, the

1:34.5

thing is for these receptors, I guess maybe before I jump into that, the

1:37.2

critical thing to know is how do these receptors work, where they found, and what are their major functions.
