All right, so much for that warm and fuzzy storyline about how all the minor leaguers

were going to get to Wilkesbury and hoist the Calder Cup and set the stage for a new

glorious age of hockey in Pittsburgh.

This is Daily Shot of Penguins.

The HL Penguins went down in two straight games.

It was best of three series to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

First game, as we discussed last week, they got blown out.

Game two over the weekend, they lost three to two.

And so, yeah, I guess at a surface level, it could look as if this is just the end of everything.

All these young players that everybody believed in, all these mock future line combinations and defensive pairings and even goaltending arrangements, poof, right?

Well, maybe not.

Maybe not.

Taylor Haas, our beatwriter from D.K. Pittsburgh Sports, was out there for both of those games,

the one in Wilkesbury and then the one in Allentown.

And after the latter, this is what Kirk McDonald, the H.L. Penguins coach, had to say about contributions that the team did get in these two games.

Like guys like Bruno, Brozer, just like the young guys. Bruno Brobrose or Billy, like, I play in the first goal by those guys, like outstanding.
