Summary

There’s no way around it. We’re all getting older. While this is a fact of life, I don’t believe I know a single person looking forward to getting older. As you know from listening to the show, my father and I had a spotty relationship growing up. After getting together a few years ago and setting aside our differences, our relationship has never been better. However, recently we’ve received some pretty grave news about his health. On today’s episode, I explain why finding peace with the past has been crucial in mending my relationship with my father, and how it’s affected our relationship during this difficult time.

0:32.0	It's inevitable that we all get older, isn't it?
0:38.0	I mean as long as things go the right way for us, I mean that's the plan.
0:46.9	Now admittedly, I don't know that I know someone that is looking forward to getting up an age to getting older as far as what typically happens right right? Our bodies start to shut down, things aren't as easy, we
0:56.3	eventually lose our memory. There seems to be some quintessential things that happen. And of course in that standpoint you start thinking about what happens after this life, What happens next? What is next? And of course we get into the
1:18.8	spiritual or religious conversation we start mapping out and planning out what could come next.
1:25.2	We start to talk about meeting our Creator.
1:27.1	And I hope all of that is very true, of course, right?
1:30.0	It's that nice necessity for definition that helps us feel good as mere mortals here.
1:37.0	But the second season of life becomes an interesting conversation when it's someone
1:46.0	that's in your life that's knee deep in that second season.
1:52.4	But imagine if you will, in a sports analogy,
1:57.0	that you're to halftime in a football game.
2:00.0	We'll make it even more incredible and call it the Super Bowl.
2:06.0	It's halftime in the Super Bowl.
2:08.0	You come out, it's a third quarter.
2:10.0	The team stretched. They start playing.
2:12.0	Things are good and then all of a sudden you look
2:18.6	up with the scoreboard and it's now the fourth quarter and there's only three minutes
2:22.4	left like wait wait wait time out we we certainly didn't play the fourth quarter and there's only three minutes left.
