Summary

Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Ask Nick Edition! We’re back to answer your burning questions about the world of dating and relationships. Before getting to our callers, we discuss everyone’s favorite part of a wedding–the vows. We also read a submission from someone who has questions about casual dating etiquette. She has been seeing someone for five months, who’s recently started to send her “I miss you” texts. She’s unsure whether she should communicate her dating expectations, or whether that’d be too presumptuous. We then get to our callers.

Our first caller’s boyfriend is nice to everyone, but her. She’s unhappy in her relationship and how he treats her, but they share children together so she wants to know if the relationship is salvageable at all. Our second caller’s boyfriend recently broke up with her because he said he wasn’t attracted to her, but wants to make things work again. He’s offered to go to couples therapy with her, but she’s not confident if her ego can get past his words. Our final caller is trying to decide between her husband and her first love. She’s unhappy in her marriage, but has kept communication open with her first love, and isn’t sure if she wants to work on her marriage, or leave him to rekindle a past romance.

“If you don’t prioritize being connected and staying connected, you won’t.”

with my family because my grandmother has we've really Irish and we've always wanted

to go my 82 grand year 82. Oh my god, I can't talk. My 82 year old grandmother finally

got to go and it was so exciting and wonderful. And then you're sick and sick. Well, you

1:03.6

going on on your trip? Anything that made you go contemplate life? My cousins had a spectacularly

1:09.5

fun wedding. It was like one side of the family who was getting married is Israeli. So

1:14.4

it was like went until three in the morning was just like stunning, tastefully like done

1:19.5

the whole lot. One thing that I noticed that I kind of was like wanted to get everybody

1:24.4

else's take on was my cousin and his wife. You're done. They didn't read a vow. They didn't

1:31.7

write their own vows to one another, but rather like went for, you know, the kind of pre-written

1:36.7

your classics are with some amendments. Just to repeat each other. It was a kiss the

bride. Yeah, exactly. And I think that you know, they had some kind of like modern updates.

1:45.3

But I realized I was like, is it narcissistic that I'm like, I feel like when I get married

1:50.4

the whole point is like what we say right to say to each other. And I was just wondering

1:56.7

what everybody else's take was on like how universal it is to want to write your own

vows. Why is that narcissistic? I don't know if it's just me being like a performer writer.

2:04.4

Like, oh, I need to feel special and like proclaim love in front of everyone. Are these
