Summary

Join Jim and Greg for 3 Martini Lunch as they break down the plunging price of eggs, Trump withdrawing New York Rep. Elise Stefanik’s nomination for U.N. ambassador to keep her in Congress, and the UK’s absurd upcoming ban on ninja swords.

First, they cheer the sharp drop in egg prices, with the average cost of a dozen falling from $8.17 to $2.92 in under a month. They highlight the role of administration policies and the return of egg-laying birds after millions were culled to curb bird flu.

Next, they dissect Trump’s decision to pull Rep. Stefanik’s U.N. nomination—not due to her qualifications but because he needs every Republican vote in Congress. They also suggest it signals concerns over the GOP’s ability to win a special election in Florida next week and hold Stefanik’s seat in New York.

Finally, they shake their heads as UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer pushes a ban on ninja swords in response to rising knife and sword attacks. Unsurprisingly, these attacks increased greatly after the UK enacted strict gun control. Jim and Greg argue that British leftists, like their counterparts in the U.S. and elsewhere, ignore the reality that violent crime stems from the attacker’s evil intentions, not the weapons.

Three martini's coming up.

Very glad you're with us for the Friday edition of the three martini lunch.

We've made it to the end of another week, which is a good martini in and of itself.

0:20.5

And today is probably the closest thing we have to our normal lineup of good, bad, and crazy.

0:24.9

If you've been with us this week, you know that it's been all good a couple of times and

0:29.0

a couple other days, absolutely no good martinis to be found. So today we think we do have

0:33.5

good, bad, and crazy martinis. We're going to be looking at the latest insanity over in the

0:38.1

UK. We'll also take a look at a significant change of plans for the Trump administration.

0:43.7

And we're going to start with what we hope is good news on the inflation front, as well as just

0:49.5

specifically the cost of eggs, because that's been one of the big issues over the first couple of months

0:54.6

in terms of domestic costs ever since Trump took office. The liberal media suddenly got

1:00.5

very interested in this issue. Didn't care as much when Biden was president, but it was

1:05.1

indisputable that just a few weeks ago, egg prices had hit an insane number.

March 3rd, an average of 817 a dozen, according to the Economic Indicator website Trading Economics.

1:32.5

Newsweek magazine cites them now, showing that that has now consistently come down to 722 a dozen as of March 6th, then 608 by March 10th, 518 by March 12th, 490 on March 13th, and now, according to Trading Economics, Jim, 292 a dozen, which is still high, but it's way,

way down from where it was less than a month ago.

1:42.8

I have to admit that the last couple times I was in the grocery store and I happened to

1:46.7

glance at the egg prices, I hadn't seen much of a decrease.

1:49.6

So I'm not sure this is hitting all over the country at the same time, perhaps.

The story from Newsweek also points out that there has been some extra efforts from this
