Summary

Amber Guyer, a 31-year old white female and former Dallas, Texas police officer, was recently convicted of murder in the shooting death of 26-year old Botham Jean, a black man. Guyer was subsequently sentenced to ten years in prison. During the penalty phase of Guyer’s trial, Botham Jean’s younger brother, Brandt, shocked the courtroom–and the world–by verbally forgiving Guyer and hugging her (to the tears of many in the courtroom.) But for many people, including some who profess to be Christian, Brandt Jean’s offer of forgiveness was not a gesture to be lauded or applauded. Listen as Darrell and Omaha (Virgil Walker) discuss some of the reasons why Jean’s offer of forgiveness wasn’t “woke” enough for some professing Christians.
