Today, we're going to explore the gruesome, mysterious death of poor Octavia Hatcher.

She was a woman born in 1869 that died at the young age of 21 in Pikeville, Kentucky,

shortly after giving birth to a child that did not survive,

who, according to legend, was buried alive.

Those who already know her story and the way that it ends

would agree that her death, as it's commonly described anyway,

was gruesome.

But not many would agree that it was particularly mysterious.
